PUTting the "hero in HERO" Malagasy style

3-15-2019

Having visited Madagascar, there is no doubt to me that everything and everyone there is real. Especially when it comes to craft creation.

This location was vibrant in color and creation and alive with endless possibility. This first blog is just a small introduction into what I found to be a fascinating island and a even more fantastic human spirit. Over the next few blogs I will tell you about my travels to Madagascar and how it left a impression on my life and how we developed what was to be our first products and branding in a place that to some is the stuff of dreams but for us, because a reality.

In 2015, I had just returned home to Turkey after a very enlightening trip to the UK and was suddenly asked to do something that I had never attempted before, and I was game. I was flown to Ethiopia and the rest as they say is history, but it was during this trip that I would end up in a place until that moment had never been on my radar in a real way. That would all change the night that I landed there. They say you can learn a lot about the country from the the first person that you meet in that country. My first person was great and this would continue the duration of my stay. From the taxi driver to the hotel, to the local vendors, I had never had a better more comfortable more home like feel than this. Even now, as I write this in reflection being in my home country, I think Madagascar made me feel more welcome as stranger than I did returning to America after nearly 17 years.

That day, and the next and the one after that, would open up so many possibilities, while exposing me to the hardships of daily life, experienced by so many Malagasy. The routine of life some many settle into not out of choice but necessity and sacrifice. I would talk to many and through those talks, learn of dreams and wishes, all of which were possible if aided, if cultivated.

Today, you begin the journey with us and we'll take you with us as we work towards building our dream and the dreams of others as we establish ourselves something different, and effective in creating the needed and wanted changes. Next blog: MEET TINAH
